The Challenge
Gloden’s ambitious growth plans meant that their current office facilities would not support their business plans long term. Once a proposed location was found the following had to be integrated at the new site:
- High speed and resilient internet services, this required research into the new site to get an understanding of the type of Internet infrastructure that could be implemented.;
- Wiring of the new building to be cat6 as well as wireless guaranteeing full coverage across 3 floors;
- Integration of a new phone system and migration the existing numbers from the existing supplier;
- New server setup with a solid backup solution in place;
- We also needed to move all required equipment from the current office to the new office and do a handover to make sure all is working. As well as providing:
- 3 new laptops (want a desktop like experience keyboard, mouse and monitors);
- 1 new laptop for the engineer on the road, slightly robust;
- 1 new desktop for the workshop.
The Solution
To ensure high speed and resilient internet services we integrated FTTP internet service at the new site. This terminated all required network core infrastructure at the new site as well as providing full wireless coverage with a guest Wi-Fi facility. Additionally, by rolling out brand new Ubiquti networking infrastructure across the site we can now help to centrally manage and monitor and defend against modern cyber threats.
Next we integrated a new cloud phone system facility and managed the transfer from the existing phone supplier to us, implemented a new domain controller running Hyper V as the hypervisor and Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and migrated files from the existing file server to Microsoft’s Office 365 platform via the SharePoint service. This enabled all authorised users access to their files securely wherever they might be promoting greater remote working.
A solid backup solution was key, out solution was to integrate Datto’s ALTO backup service to protect the local environment by replicating data locally as well as offsite. In addition to the all of the Office 365 environment was protected with SaaS backup protection to securely replicate all data from the Office 365 environment to a secure UK datacentre facility.
Finally, we upgraded some of the ageing endpoints with modern Dell laptops with docking facilities and migrated all remaining equipment from the existing site to the new office.
