The Challenge
AeroSuperBatics, world renowned aerobatic wing walkers, needed to move their head office into their operations hangar. From the subset, AeroSuperBatics had a strict set of requirements:
- Key to retain the main phone number due to the reliance on it for sales enquiries;
- Ensure minimal disruption, there was only one day for closure of the offices;
- Ensure all kit was relocated and fully functional in the new office;
- Full wireless coverage with both a secure guest wireless facility;
- Stable internet solution, current challenge is the location of the office and the fact there is not much choice for quality internet;
- Concerned from previous experiences of managing third parties such as Openreach to get new connectivity in place.
The Solution
We worked with Lorraine directly to ensure she knew the involved timescales as well as associated risks, but provided confidence in showing the risk mitigation factors we had in place should there be an issue.
The first step was to work directly with Openreach to ensure that the line was in place well in advance of the move and to test the broadband service to ensure it was sufficient and stable due to AeroSuperBatics reliance on the internet through cloud services.
When we were happy that the line was in and stable we validated and tested the newly integrated Cat 6 network infrastructure and integrated our cloud managed firewall and switches. This enabled us to securely monitor the environment was well as centrally manage the environment and ensure all relevant network devices were patched and up to date to reduce the risk of a cyber attack.
As part of validating the infrastructure we integrated our cloud managed wireless solution which provides secure wireless for AeroSuperBatics staff but would also provide segmented wireless for guests through simply checking in to AeroSuperBatics Facebook page.
During the move day as AeroSuperBatics was already employing our Cloud Phone System the move of telephony services was seamless. There was no concerns around number porting as the numbers were all held in the cloud. During the agreed date of transfer we were able to transfer calls immediately to a number of their choice to ensure calls were not missed.
Again due to AeroSuperBatics being on the Office 365 platform all core email facilities are stored in the cloud and again during the transfer AeroSuperBatics were able to continue to respond to emails via their portal or mobile devices.
The final part of the move was lifting and shifting the associated hardware (laptops and desktops to the new environment along with the file storage server and backup device.
When everything was in place we made sure to validate all core functions so that we could have complete confidence that AeroSuperBatics staff would be fully functioning or when they next came into the office.
